In our latest episode of ‘People in America’ we had the pleasure of sitting down with Hollywood photographer to the stars, Derek Blanks. For him photography is a medium. With his own style, Blanks captures the essence of his subjects with flair and creativity. He has photographed Hollywood celebrities and entertainers such as Janelle Monae, Chaka Khan, Beyonce, Usher, and many more.
I went to NYC to cover the 67th Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall for USA TODAY. I must say that Broadway does it best! So many expressive actors walked the red carpet and they had a TON to say and show! Even though it’s pretty tough shooting at an event like this, it was a blast and I had a chance to meet many new faces.
Just finished a fashion shoot and video with hair & makeup artist Sasha. Her work speaks for itself and her sense for style, fashion and trends is amazing! She does it all, from hair styles to makeup, she definitely is a fashionista! Check out the video I did for Sasha on my portfolio page and be sure to check her out at Eric Alexander Salon.
Moses came to me for professional product photos, so we went to the studio and created magic! The design and quality that has gone into each product is genuinely amazing. The ‘Smoothing Elixir Haircare System’ by Moses is available online and will be soon sold at Bloomingdale’s. All the natural oils and minerals make these products truly complete and unique, PLUS IT SMELLS AMAZING!
Taking product shots is not an easy task. However with the proper lighting and a nice studio, you can turn anything into magic! I must say, after tweaking the lights over and over again, I was able to capture perfection for HAYADI Organic Haircare! This photo was featured in the Dec. issue of OK MAGAZINE!
Master stylist Moses came to me wanting an advertisement clip. He wanted something hip, fast, and full of fashion and glam! So we sat down and began at the drawing boards. We first came up with the theme and style of the piece and then moved towards a unique look. With various models, creativity, and fun we did it!
After a year of writing, directing, filming, and editing ‘Affliction’ is finally complete! This is my Masters Thesis Film I have been working on for over a year. Thanks to a lot of very talented people, it is finally complete! And I am pleased to say that it has been nominated ‘Best Thesis Film’ in the 2012 Visions Film Festival in DC.
I have always looked up to one person as a role model in my life, my mother! She has been nothing but a huge support to me and many, always putting other first and helping when necessary She just received her ‘Radiation Oncology’ degree after three-years of hard work at the age of 50. I did a short documentary for her on the day of her graduation that is on my PORTFOLIO page.
